This year's most exciting EGM

Supporters of the new exco wore red shirt printed with 'Pro Woman, Pro Family, Pro Singapore' as opposed to the old guards' white shirt saying 'We are AWARE'.

Queues to register for the EGM started as early as 10 in the morning. The new exco had to stop members from registering so that the EGM can start.

Men were also up in force to have a say over AWARE even though they were relegated to one corner in the hall and do not have the right to vote.

The proposed 3 hours EGM dragged to a dramatic 8 hours. And the heated verbal crossfires got so ugly it was too much for the previous AWARE presidents to bear.

Former Asst. Hononary Treasurer Maureen Ong (left) shouted 'shut up and sit down' to the crowd at the start of the EGM causing even more angry booing. Josie Lau(right) and her committee tried to keep cool amidst the chaos. But after 7 hours, they showed signs of fatigue and resignation.

Passionate speakers took turns to question the new exco of their anti-homosexuality sentiments and other action taken during their one month in office. More often than not, strong language was used.

Others cheered at the criticisms targeted at the new exco and jeered at their responses. Emotions ran high.

The new exco led by Josie Lau was greatly outnumbered by the sheer 2000-odd members that unanimously voted no-confidence. Eventually, they decided to step down from the exco and "wish AWARE all the best".
